Working With Your Lawyers

Mediation

Do you want to agree the arrangements for children and finances with your former partner but find it hard to speak with them constructively?

Mediation provides professional help and a structured framework for your discussions to move forward. It is usually completed in 3 to 5 sessions. We aim to provide a flexible environment to allow you to achieve a tailored solution.

Our mediators are neutral. Although they are solicitors they cannot give legal advice to either side within the mediation process but will encourage each of you to consult with your own independent solicitor to draft a legally effective agreement at the end of it.

Collaborative Law

Couples who choose the collaborative approach want skilled help from their solicitors throughout the process. Collaborative law involves working with your lawyers to find the best answers for your family as you each go your separate ways.

You need to accept the commitments –

  • A real determination that you will reach a solution together and that you will not allow a Judge to decide your family’s future in the courtroom.
  • A real willingness to disclose information fully and honesty to each other.

Collaborative lawyers sign an agreement with you which disqualifies them from representing you at court if the process breaks down. That means they are absolutely permitted to helping you find the best solution by agreement not through destructive conflict.
