Shabana Walayat, Partner
Shabana is a co-founder of Shortlands with over 16 years experience in Family Law.
Expert in the complex financial aspects of high value divorces, residence and contact
arrangements for children, her vast experience also covers:
• Multi jurisdiction divorces
• Relationship breakdown between unmarried couples
• Same sex couples and dissolving Civil Partnerships
• Cases with an International dimension, including child abduction.
An SRA accredited specialist family lawyer, Shabana is also a member of the Rights
of Women, an organisation which advises hundreds of women every year on issues
including domestic violence, child contact and relationship breakdown. She is also an
Honorary Legal Advisor at the High Court’s Principal Registry of the Family Division
where she offers regular pro bono advice.
Her approach is perfectly pitched to be constructive, cost-effective and sensitive to
reach settlement at an early stage alongside quick, robust and decisive Court action
where necessary.
